G.E.S endorses rent directive

The Ghana Education Service in a press release issued on the 16th of March 2022 endorsed the directive of the Western Regional Director of Education for certain category of staff (teaching and non-teaching) to pay rent for Government bungalows they occupy. In a statement signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head, Public Relations Unit the G.E.S emphasised that external auditors have raised queries on the issues  of rent payment of staff for some time now. The release further stated that G.E.S was summoned to the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on the subject. A specific instance was cited where one of the Institutions in the Western Region was queried for charging inadequate rent on staff occupying Government bungalows of the school.
